About Us

Location

EDSC is ideally situated for members to explore Poole harbour with its many islands, inlets and the River Frome up to the historic town of Wareham.

Poole and Studland Bay, each with sandy beaches can be found just outside the harbour, whilst the Solent is an easy day sail to the east and the Jurassic coastline of Dorset stretches to the West.

The harbour has a low tidal range and a double high tide so there are only a few hours in the day where the sandy shoreline is exposed. Much of the harbour is shallow and is especially suited to shallow draft boats although all the main channels can be navigated by deep draught fin kneelers. Our club moorings straddle both of the deepwater North and Main Channels in the harbour

Racing

During the summer racing is usually carried out on most alternate Friday evenings within the harbour, dinghies also race on alternate Sundays. For cruisers, on specific weekends we also race in Poole Bay.

Cruisers

The club has shallow and deep water moorings available for multihulls, cruisers and yachts up to 35ft. Outhauls are available along our long pier to keep tenders in the summer months. Organised cruises undertaken in the past have been east towards ports in the Solent or westwards towards Weymouth. We’ve even seen our members cruise to France taking in both the Brittany and Normandy coastlines.

Dinghies

In the boatyard we have space for members dinghy’s and club owned boats, including two family size Topper Argos, Laser Picos and Toppers which are available for members with a summer subscription. This means that members don’t need to have a boat in order to enjoy sailing from the club.

The Clubhouse

The clubhouse itself provides changing rooms with showers, sail lockers and a super first floor members lounge with incredible views across to Sandbanks and Brownsea Island. The club has WIFI for members, kitchen facilities and  its own private car park for members during the summer sailing season.
